Wavehouse Team Ride, Bullet Time Effect - So I posted a few photos from our video shoot using the 28 Epic Action Video Cams, and here’s the final result!
It took tons of hours of editing all done by my friend Chris Olivas, especially to get that effect. We were inspired by a Rip Curl video that used that effect (bullet time, time slice) so we made a rig that could hold 28 Epic Action Video Cams side-by-side. With all the cams running, in the editing room Chris could select a moment and then edit it so as to pause the person in mid air and get 28 different views of the same moment/frame.
We’ve done a few tests with other rig prototypes and GoPro’s, but the Epic Cams are slimmer so we can get them closer together. Check out these photos of the final rig we used to capture the Wavehouse action. Chris created the latest prototype on his own, with a lot of work getting all the cameras angled right to create a smooth shot of the action a certain distance away.
I’m really excited how well Chris did on the editing and how solid the footage turned out. Everyone involved had huge smiles and were hooting and hollering the entire shoot, so much fun! Couldn’t have done it without these world class athletes in there - seriously, two of them have competed in the Flowriding World Championships before. They took it next level for us, sacrificing their bodies for some of these amazing shots.
